Lead or Follow Lace Scarf Knitting Pattern

The fluid design of the Lead or Follow Lace Scarf is a wonderful study in the behavior of lace knitting when yarn overs are placed in various positions relative to the compensating decrease. Both charted and line-by-line instructions included.

Fits: Women

Size: Allow 500 yards of lace or fingering weight yarn for 12" x 68" scarf, or desired length and width with yardage adjustment. 5½ stitches/inch, size US 5 / 3.75 mm needles suggested. Shown in hand-spun silk.

Pattern Errata:
 
Pgs 2 & 3: 18R and 18L actually describe 17 st borders, not 18 sts (substitute 17R and 17L respectively everywhere). Pg 3 Special Abbreviations: 17R WS row should read "k4, p1, [k5, p1] 2 times". 17L WS row should read "[p1, k5] 2 times, p1, k4".
