Q. I'm looking for a specific pattern. How can I find it?
Click on “Search For Patterns” on the left menu. On the Pattern Catalog page, select your search options and click the “Submit Search” button. A list of patterns matching your search options will be displayed. Click on a thumbnail picture to view a larger picture and details about the pattern.

Q. How do I order?
Click on the thumbnail pictures in the Pattern Catalog, which will take you to a larger picture and details about the pattern. Click “Add to Cart” to add the pattern to your Shopping Cart and view its contents. You can now Continue Shopping and add more patterns to your Cart or check out and complete your purchase by clicking one of the Check Out buttons.

Q. How do I get the pattern?
Once you pay for the selected pattern(s), you will be taken to your Member Area where you can view recent purchases and get your pattern(s). Click on the “Download” link next to the pattern to download a secure, encrypted PDF file that contains the complete pattern. Save the pattern PDF to your hard drive for future reference and/or print it immediately to knit or crochet something wonderful!

Q. What is PDF?
Portable Document Format (PDF) is a type of formatting that enables files to be viewed on a variety computers regardless of the program originally used to create them. PDF files retain the "look and feel" of the original document with special formatting, graphics, and color intact. PDF files are readable with Adobe Acrobat Reader, an application that can be downloaded AT NO CHARGE. Click button below.

Q. How do I become a member?
You will automatically become a member after you have made your first purchase.

Q. What if I forget my password?
Click on Contact Us at the bottom of the page and request a new password. We will check your records and assign a new password. If you then want to change the new password, see “How do I change my password?” below.

Q. What does “errata” mean?
Simply, errata are pattern corrections. Although designers take special care to ensure that their patterns are accurate, occasionally errors are found after the pattern has been published. If an error is detected in a pattern that you have already purchased, you will receive an email from The Knitting Vault informing you of the correction.

Q. Where can I find errata/corrections for a specific pattern?
Errata/corrections will be available as text on the pattern description page.

Gift Certificates

Q. How do your Gift Certificates work?
Gift Certificates are a new way for you to buy the perfect present for knitters and crocheters. Gift Certificates establish a balance account for the recipient that can be used as payment towards any items found on The Knitting Vault.

Q. Do I have to be a Knitting Vault member to buy a Gift Certificate?
No. Anyone can buy a Gift Certificate.

Q. If I am purchasing a printable Gift Certificate, why do I need to enter the recipient's email address?
While purchasing a printable certificate is the most secure method, all Gift Certificates are linked to the recipient's email address, which ensures that if a Gift Certificates code is lost or taken, the recipient can still use it.

Q. If I choose to have the Gift Certificate delivered via email, how long will it take to arrive?
Gift certificates will be sent immediately upon purchase. Please note that since email is often sent or received on shared or less secure servers, The Knitting Vault bears no responsibility for any misuse of information. 

Q. Can I purchase a Gift Certificate for a recipient outside of the United States?
Yes.  They are valid anywhere in the world.

Q. Can I include a gift card or note?
Yes.  You can enter a personalized message that will be displayed on the Gift Certificate.

Q. How can I spend my Gift Certificate?
Gift Certificates can only be redeemed to pay for The Knitting Vault items.

To use your certificate:

  • go to www.theknittingvault.com
  • click on patterns you wish to purchase and add them to your shopping cart.
  • check out by clicking on Member Checkout; use the username and password provided on your certificate to pay for your purchases.

Q. What if my total purchases exceed my gift amount? 
Any balance over the amount of your Gift Certificate can easily be charged to a credit card at checkout.  Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund.

Q. I received a Gift Certificate. Can I give it to someone else?
No.  However, you may use your Gift Certificate balance to purchase other certificates.

Q. Do Gift Certificates expire?
No.

Q. What are web banners?
A web banner is a form of advertising on the internet. It is intended to attract traffic to a website by linking them to the website of the advertiser.

Q. How secure is the site?
Every order placed online with The Knitting Vault is secure. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your online order information. SSL encrypts your order information so that it can only be decoded by The Knitting Vault. You will know that you are shopping with a secure connection by looking at the status bar on the bottom of your browser window once you enter checkout.
